Wedding Part 1

The Wedding, The Wedding, The Wedding.
As a little aperitif I submit Ariadne's triumphant procession to the altar. Xavier appears and then so do I (they are both a little put out by my appearance)

Dear FOM, my dear,

Thanks for the wedding pix but I feel somewhat bemused by the video. It looks like a Divali festival managed by a concordance of whispering Brahmans. Did you have union problems with camera crew? I had expected sound effects; " The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba", or at least a little rattle on the keyboard. Even "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" would have satisfied. There was something important there, I could feel. But what?
Hope you liked the present. The 1783 copy of Maniere de se recreer avec le Jeu de Cartes nommees Tarot was hard to get; but I knew this was the moment. He puts the Fool in the last place. Yours, as ever, Dr Matthew Parish, A.O.

Dear FOM

Yesterday - I was so busy in the crypt - managing the Opus Dei news deadlines - I returned to my villa found I the house-keeper had run out dry 500-thread Egyptian cotton pillow-cases. Those were still damp on the line. The only pillow-case left in the linen-press; a red- satin pillow case, fragrant with the powdery, restful scent of sandalwood - a sachet sent from the French quarter of Tamil Nadu, India - by my beautiful aunt, (the one with neck like Nefertiti. I went to bed early at nine. The scent drifted me away, with the thought of blessings and prayers, and a tall church with stone towers and stone faces, and little candles lit up in racks - like fir-trees in flame - in the dim dark of acathedral. All this under the ring of a star-wreathed halo, over the the peaceful face of Mary. She holds a little child. His face, too, shines with a peaceful expression. She sends blessings to you, FOM. Blessings to you, my child. Blessings to your house and all who dwell in it. All is well, and all shall be well. Omne mane padme hum.

Father Matthew Parish, AO.
